Classes: Why can I waitlist a class that has seats remaining?
Classes: Why can I waitlist a class that has seats remaining?
As a student, you may try to add a class that appears to have seats available, and sometimes you get an error indicating "Reserve Closed - Waitlist Full" or "Class is Full - Setas(s) open are for reserved for waitlist." What's happening here?

This may be due to the waitlist being full. If there are 36 seats total, the waitlist is included in that number. So if there are 5 waitlist seats, 36-5 means there are 31 "first-come, first-served" seats. For example, Math 181 CRN 41152 says there are 5 of 36 seats available, but if you try to add it, you will be told the waitlist is full.

By hovering a mouse (or tapping on a mobile phone) over the numbers, you still see the notice that "Open Seats Reserved for Waitlist Only."

In that case, we recommend you look for another section of the course that either has open seats remaining, or that has waitlist seats remaining. In addition, IT recommends that students contact Mt. SAC Student Services for the academic Counseling department for academic planning, course selection, and strategies with one-on-one guidance.
